How To Crop A Button
This is a quick and easy tutorial on how to crop a button out of an exisiting graphics.
Open up the image you want to use to crop a button, I'll use a background from dorkieNET where you can'find more at. Make sure that the image you use is either a .GIF or .JPG, DO NOT USE A PSD's. It's always cool using graphics from your layout, so your button matches your layout, like what I do
- Go to your Tools Palette, and select the Crop Tool
, at the top of your tool bar you will see two small boxes, you will type in 88px and 31px, that is the size you need for this button, you can pretty much type in any size you like. You can only do this way if you select the
Crop Tool.
- Using the Crop Tool, drag across the image you opened up, try to get an area with no text because your going to add that later. Double click and it will cut a perfect 88x31 size area for you.
- Now lets add a 1px black border, go to Select >> Select All.
- Then go to Edit >> Stroke and choose your color you'd like, I will use black and type in 1px but you can put what you like, or just use the settings below:
- CTRL+D to deselect the button, now your ready to add some text, and then you can save your button as .gif or .jpg
