How To Use Blank Templates
This is a good tutorial to use if you want to add your graphics or any graphics to a button or avatar template. You will learn how to do something like this to your templates. If you use any samples from this tutorial be sure to give credit. Thank You
Open up the template you want to use or use the one below:
- Now open up the graphic you want to use for the blank template. I will use a portion of the image on the current layout (version 2). I will use this part, you can use it if you want to also.
- Now you will need to crop out a 88x31 part, if you don't know how to crop then go here and use that tutorial to learn how to crop.
- I'll assume you already cropped your 88x31, now click CTRL+S and then CTRL+C to select and copy, like this:
- Okay now go to your blank template, if you don't have it open then open it now.
- Go to Image >> Mode >> RGB Color to convert the template into a format that will be much easier to edit.
- Now would be a good time to zoom into your blank template, this helps in the next step. On your left side use the Navigatro to zoom into 300%, if you do not see the navigator then go to Windows >> Navigator and it should pop up on the top right hand side.
- Then go to your Tools Palette, click on the Magic Wand
, then go to your blank template and click on the white area, now you need to get the all of the white areas selected, so now after clicking on the white area, then go to Select >> Similar, this will select all the white areas on your template. Yours should look like this now:
- Now that you have that selected were going to paste, the cropped portion that you copied in the beginning, if you don't have it copied then go select and copy it again, then go to your template and go to Edit >> Paste Into, and now you should have a perfect looking button with your desired graphics on it, something like this:
- Now you have to save so go to Save >> Save For Web and save as a .gif, if you do not save as a .gif then it will NOT be transparent. Now your ready to add any extra effects or text.
