Laser Beam
With this tutorial you can make a really cool looking laser beam!
Open up a new image 350x300 is fine, with a black background.
- Make a New Layer, then with the Rectangular Marquee Tool
, draw a small rectangular thru the middle of your image.
- Now Fill the rectangle with white (use the paint bucket icon
, but make sure your white is selected before filling)
- Now duplicate the layer, go to your layers pallet and right click and click on Duplicate Layer:
- On the layer ABOVE the background layer, deselect CTRL + D, then go to Filter >> Blur >> Gaussin Blur, choose the value 10 depending on the size your using:
7) On the duplicated layer, repeat the above step but use the value 3, should look like this:
- Add another layout above all the ones you have, and fill it with a nice purple. I used the color #A185FC
- Now on your Layers Palette, click on the drop down menu and select Color (at the bottom of the menu):
- Yours should look something like this by now:
- Now were going to add a type of edge, to give it an appearance as if its sticking out of something, like the Light Saber from Star Wars lol. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a square to the side of your beam, like this:
- At this point you can use your gradient tool, (right click on the paint bucket for the gradient tool) select a light #D8D8D9 for background and dark gray #6D6C70 for the foreground. Now duplicate the layer and move it to the opposite end like this:
- You can keep adding little details here and there until your satisfied with what you come up with, and this is what your final product can look like:
